As one of the UK's largest independent publishing and information companies, Centaur Communications has a long history of developing market-leading products within traditional publishing, exhibitions, conferences, and events.

Challenge:

Headquartered in London's Poland Street, and with a total of seven offices located throughout the UK, Centaur has extended its business in the last few years through the development of a number of highly successful web portal and on-line information service brands.

With a broad geographical spread and multiple on-line portfolios, Centaur had two main requirements from TelecityGroup. Firstly, to provide secure and reliable connectivity to the internet, and second, to provide a centralized hosting environment where its leading on-line services, such as Lawtel, TheLawyer.com, mad.co.uk, and e4engineering.com could reside.

Solution:

Centaur's corporate access to the internet had been unreliable with its existing ISP. TelecityGroup directly replaced the fully managed high-speed connectivity, at the same time adding fully managed firewall security.

Centaur's existing hosted internet services were with a number of providers around the country. TelecityGroup' Professional Services worked with Centaur's technical staff to design an offering that would provide a seamless transition of the majority of these services to a central facility. This was delivered through a bespoke combination of a Centaur-managed platform housed at TelecityGroup, and TelecityGroup' Dedicated Server Hosting offering. Dedicated Server Hosting is a managed outsourced solution that is client controlled, and supported by managed firewalls. All the server hardware and software is supported 24x7 by trained technical staff within the secure and resilient TelecityGroup data centre environment. The Dedicated Server Hosting environment is linked directly to the TelecityGroup backbone, which allows for faster connectivity and an enhanced-user experience.
