Inmarsat chooses TelecityRedbus for data centre services in Europe
13 July 2006 – Inmarsat, the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications, has selected TelecityRedbus, Europe’s foremost data centre services provider, to provide managed data centre services in Amsterdam. The agreement brings the total TelecityRedbus customer base in the Netherlands to 350.
Inmarsat owns and operates a fleet of ten geostationary satellites, which provide a wide range of voice and data services for end users at sea, on land and in the air. Customers include governments, aid agencies and businesses with operations in remote regions across the globe.
PartnerBy hosting infrastructure at the TelecityRedbus facilities, the most connected data centres in the Netherlands, Inmarsat has direct access to all major national and international network service providers. “We were looking for a European partner to host an interconnect meet-me point for our satellite traffic which is received in the Netherlands,” says Nils Solvang, Director of Information Systems at Inmarsat. “The TelecityRedbus data centres in Amsterdam offer the perfect hosting solution for us and our customers – both in terms of the resilient environment they provide and the number of carriers to whom we can connect.
