TelecityGroup awarded ‘IPO of the Year' at UK Technology Innovation and Growth Awards

TelecityGroup, the leading pan-European provider of network independent data centres, has been recognised as achieving ‘IPO of the Year’ at the UK Technology Innovation and Growth Awards 2008.

Led by CEO Mike Tobin, TelecityGroup floated on the London Stock Exchange in October 2007 and raised £96.3m. The company subsequently joined the FTSE 250 in December 2007. The judges deemed the IPO the most successful based on the amount of money raised, the timing, the type and size of the company, and the sector.

The judges commented: “TelecityGroup managed one of the largest technology IPOs in a long time. This is not only a tremendous achievement for TelecityGroup itself, but also very positive for other technology companies as investors witnessed such an encouraging success story.”

The UK Technology Innovation and Growth Awards winners undergo an exhaustive process of investigation by an esteemed panel of judges, and over the last eight years the awards have become one of the most coveted accolades within the industry. TelecityGroup beat five other successful companies to the title: blinkx, Enfis, Expansys, i-design and Neuropharm Group plc.

Mike Tobin, CEO of TelecityGroup, says: “The IPO took place in a difficult market – only a week before another significant technology float had been pulled, and in the month before no admissions had been made to the LSE. This award is great recognition for the hard work and dedication everyone in the company has contributed, and we look forward to building on that success in 2008.”

The UK Technology Innovation and Growth Awards recognise individuals, organisations and partnerships across the technology industry. Fourteen categories commend those who have demonstrated innovation and enterprise, and those who have provided the supporting business services to help make them successful.
