TelecityGroup opens new Powergate data centre in London
Telecity Group plc ('TelecityGroup' or the 'Group'), the leading pan-European operator of network independent data centres, announces that its new state of the art Powergate data centre in London has opened for business.
This new facility, the first to open in central London for several years, is at the forefront of data centre innovation. It will offer approximately 5,000 square metres and 10 megawatts (MW) of customer capacity. The new data centre has been designed to provide 4 kilowatts (kW) of customer power per rack as standard, more than twice the current industry average, with high powered zones offering up to 20 kW per rack. Energy-efficient design principles have been used throughout the building utilising technologies such as free air cooling and sophisticated ‘intelligent’ climate control systems to reduce energy waste. In addition, multiple connectivity options available on site are enhanced by the presence of the London Internet Exchange, LINX, which will offer customers a high level of national and international peering and connectivity to the internet.

The Powergate launch follows the opening of the new Amstel Business Park facility in Amsterdam, announced on 7th April 2008, bringing the total number of TelecityGroup data centres in Europe to 20. TelecityGroup recently announced plans to build a new data centre in Paris, its third in the French capital, which is expected to open in the second half of 2009.
