TelecityRedbus announces multi-million euro investment in Paris
Growth in demand fuels drive to expand Paris site
LONDON, 5 September 2006 – TelecityRedbus, Europe’s foremost data centre services provider, today announced a multi-million Euro investment to add approximately 280 square metres feet to its facility in Aubervilliers, Paris.
The planned addition of high-quality data centre space to the site has been driven by an increasing demand for secure and resilient colocation services in Paris from a combination of both new and existing customers. The initiative is part of a wider European investment programme to ensure that TelecityRedbus continues to deliver the optimum data centre environment to its customers and comes after the company’s recent announcement that it is to acquire the European business of Globix, the managed hosting and security services provider.
“The prolonged upturn in market demand for data centre services, combined with an ongoing aim to support existing clients as they grow and expand, are both significant drivers for this move,” says Mike Tobin, TelecityRedbus CEO. ”This investment also demonstrates TelecityRedbus’ firm commitment to the French marketplace.”
The Aubervilliers facility, opened in 2001, offers a secure, resilient environment for hosting customer platforms through a combination of world-class utilities, multiple levels of connectivity, security, cooling/fire suppression and systems engineering services. It is also host to FreeIX, one of France’s leading Internet Exchanges. On completion, the data centre, which is located in the EMGP business park of Aubervilliers, will be approximately 1280 sq. metres in size, with its sister site in Courbevoie offering approximately 2050 sq. metres of data centre space.
Following the acquisition of Globix UK, the company will have 18 carrier-diverse data centre facilities across seven countries throughout Europe that are designed to meet businesses’ scalability, security and connectivity requirements. Six of these data centre locations host the main national Internet exchange points (IXPs); Amsterdam - AMS-IX, London - LINX, Frankfurt - DE-CIX, Paris - FreeIX, Dublin - INEX and MaNAP in Manchester. Coupled with over 250 tier one and two telecommunications service providers on site, TelecityRedbus offers an unrivalled range of data and IP connectivity.
