Think London chooses TelecityGroup for business continuity
Secure facilities provide essential backup for business critical applications
4 February 2008: Think London, the foreign direct investment agency for London, has chosen network independent data centre and managed services provider TelecityGroup to provide mirrored backup for its in-house data centre. The decision to outsource their backup requirements follows a period of expansion in which Think London opened a network of branch-offices around the world including China, New York, San Francisco and India.
The London head office hosts the critical applications for the worldwide offices at its in-house data centre. As the traffic between branch-offices has continued to increase, it became essential to review the businesses continuity and data recovery plans in order to guarantee that no business-critical information was lost in the event of failure or disaster.
Shipu Miah, IT Manager at Think London, says: “Our IT infrastructure has grown considerably to support our offices and representatives worldwide, and increased the responsibility to ensure system uptime. As a result, it became important to have an effective business continuity plan in place to secure our business applications and data, and reduce the risk of any downtime. By hosting a mirrored set up with TelecityGroup in a secure and stable environment, we can be sure we have the appropriate measures in place.”
A key factor in the decision to use TelecityGroup was the high level of physical security at its Oliver’s Yard data centre. In addition to the security guards and CCTV at the facility, swipe cards and biometric scans are required for those seeking entry into the data centre.
Adriaan Oosthoek, Managing Director of TelecityGroup UK, says: “Think London is an important ambassador for the city, helping attract investment and business. It’s therefore vital that all its communications and connections with businesses worldwide are reliable and secure. We are confident TelecityGroup’s facilities will provide Think London with the robust and stable platform required to support its global operations.”
