TelecityGroup provided an extremely professional service, identified gaps in our requirements and highlighted these to us so that we were not delayed in what was a very time critical project. Their after deployment service has not disappointed and I would certainly consider them for future hosting requirements.

LINX expands London presence with TelecityGroup
New 10GigE connectivity at Sovereign House and Harbour Exchange data centresDue to significant growth in its members’ Internet traffic, the London Internet Exchange, LINX, one of the world's largest Internet Exchange Points, is expanding its presence in two of TelecityGroup’s data centres in London.
LINX is upgrading its core switching infrastructure at TelecityGroup’s London Docklands Sovereign House and Harbour Exchange data centres to support the increased demand for 10 Gigabit per second (Gbps) port requirements from Internet and network service providers. Over 100 member 10Gbps ports are now in use on the LINX exchanges with an increasing number of operators choosing to connect in this way. Each port will provide bandwidth equivalent to 50,000 simultaneous Internet video streams, enabling significantly greater levels of traffic to travel through the LINX infrastructure at any given time, thus facilitating a faster and more efficient public network. The new investment will help ensure that UK and international Internet users continue to receive a high quality Internet experience as demand for higher bandwidth services such as online video and gaming grow in popularity.
Hundreds of national and international service providers use TelecityGroup’s highly secure, resilient data centres to house their critical infrastructure, and the presence of the LINX PoPs provides them with vital peering opportunities. The latest investment means TelecityGroup’s Harbour Exchange data centre will join the Sovereign House facility in offering local 10GE ports. These are two key network aggregation points for LINX through which 25% of all LINX traffic passes. The LINX expansion also coincides with new customer capacity being launched at Sovereign House.
John Souter, CEO, London Internet Exchange Ltd, commented: “LINX has been present at the Telecity Sovereign House data centre for many years so we are very pleased to bring on this additional capacity for customers. The investment extends the opportunity for members to connect to LINX at this facility, which is one of the most highly developed points of presence on the LINX network – and a key location for 10GigE connectivity.”
In addition to the capacity at Sovereign House, LINX will also be extending its presence to TelecityGroup’s new central London data centre facility, Powergate. From launch, LINX will offer a full range of peering services at the new data centre.
Adriaan Oosthoek, Managing Director, TelecityGroup UK and Ireland, said “As the demand for online content and services continues to grow exponentially, investment in critical infrastructure is vital if we’re to keep London at the very heart of the global Internet economy. I’m delighted TelecityGroup and LINX, who have worked together very successfully over many years, are once again leading the way by delivering new capacity and connectivity where it is most needed to provide new opportunities for growth.”
