TelecityGroup first to sign EU Code of Conduct for data centres

TelecityGroup, the leading pan-European premium data centre provider, today announced it will be the first network independent provider to sign up to the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres.

The EU Code of Conduct is a European-wide voluntary initiative, developed in collaboration with the industry, which promotes energy efficiency performance standards for data centres. Signatories are expected to implement the Code’s best practice - for example, decommission old servers, reduce the amount of air conditioning used or maximise server usage by running multiple applications – and will be assessed on an annual report of energy consumption.

All TelecityGroup data centres are designed to provide the optimum environment for business-critical IT infrastructure, and energy efficiency is a key consideration. TelecityGroup engineers have deployed highly innovative data centre designs, technologies and services across its facilities which significantly reduce the power and cooling requirements. The Code’s best practices have already been implemented to the Group’s Amsterdam data centres, and will now be rolled out across the Group.
