TelecityGroup’s charitable work

At TelecityGroup we believe it is important to engage with the communities in which we operate.

These contributions vary from actively recruiting employees from local areas near our data centres to offering in-kind and financial support to charities and community organisations. Our employees also get involved in fund-raising and volunteering activities.

The Group has a particular focus on improving the welfare, education and creation of opportunities for disadvantaged children both locally and internationally. The London office works with Trident, an organisation which helps young people develop their employability skills to prepare them for the world of work.  In TelecityGroup France, a number of managers participate in education and sports programmes that help young people from disadvantaged areas. Throughout the year, our teams take part in fundraising activities for events such as Red Nose Day and Jeans for Genes.

Action for Children

Staff from TelecityGroup's London office also take part in Byte Night, an annual event where individuals and teams from the IT industry spend a night sleeping on the streets to raise money and awareness for the charity Action for Children.

Action for Children, a national children’s charity in the United Kingdom, supports and speaks out for the most vulnerable and neglected children, young people, families and their communities. In 2011 TelecityGroup not only took part in the sleep outs, but also contributed by providing ByteNight fleeces and travel bags for the sleepers. Across the UK the sleep outs raised over £750,000 enabling the charity to continue to support over 75,000 young people who experience homelessness every year. Not only will the money raised help to keep thousands of young people off the streets, but will also help them to build better lives with secure accommodation, education and training opportunities. Take a look at some of the images from 2011 below.

The Princes Trust

TelecityGroup is also a patron of The Princes Trust, a UK charity that helps young people overcome barriers and get their lives working. Around one in five young people in the UK are not in work, education or training. Youth unemployment costs the UK economy £10 million a day in lost productivity, while youth crime costs £1 billion every year. Through practical support including training, mentoring and financial assistance, it helps 14-30 year olds realise their potential and transform their lives.

We are closely involved with The Loomba Trust, a charity which helps educate disadvantaged children in India and Africa. Other organisations which TelecityGroup has helped include the NSPCC, Alzheimer's Society, The Children's Society, Water Aid, Cancer Charity Trust, Worshipful Company of IT, Action for Children, Intellect and touraid.
