Robert van Driel
Senior network engineer, the Netherlands

I joined TelecityGroup in February 2007 from a large Internet and telecoms company after an old colleague of mine who had moved to TelecityGroup told me about the positive environment here.

Keeping in contact with customers

As a senior network engineer, it’s my responsibility to know everything that’s going on in the data centre in which I work and communicate with customers regularly. I lead a team of seven engineers who work in shift patterns and ensure that everything runs smoothly.

My typical day starts with planning and co-ordinating which tasks need to be prioritised. I then work on new orders for customers and reply to questions. Most of the time, I do cabling orders myself and assist the other engineers as needed. Overall it’s a busy and lively day.

I really enjoy the variety of work at TelecityGroup and the contact with customers from all over the world, but a very important thing for me is that we have a fantastic team here in the Netherlands.
