TelecityGroup’s Environmental Innovations Showcased by 2010 Greenbang Sustainability Award Win
TelecityGroup, Europe's leading provider of premium network independent data centres, has been named winner of the ‘Best Data Centre Innovation’ category at the Greenbang Sustainability Awards 2010 for its newest Paris data centre, Condorcet.
The Greenbang Sustainability Awards recognise top sustainability efforts from businesses working to create a low-carbon future. The ‘Best Data Centre Innovation’ category recognises companies that have shown innovative and industry leading approaches to energy efficient data centre design, and demonstrated quantifiable results in the relevant areas such as carbon emissions.
Condorcet was recognised by the judges for its innovative, efficiency-maximising design. In particular, how free cooling is being used to reduce energy consumption and how a white roof has been installed to mitigate solar glare. Additionally the judges were impressed with the construction of the Climate Change Arboretum, which not only puts the facility's waste heat to efficient use but also provides a base for The French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) to conduct research into the effects of climate change.
Condorcet is expected to save the equivalent of 2,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year when compared to the consumption of a legacy data centre of the same capacity, demonstrating TelecityGroup’s commitment to the environment.
Michael Tobin, CEO of TelecityGroup said: “We are delighted to win the prestigious Greenbang Sustainability Award, as it is recognition for the ongoing hard work of TelecityGroup and our commitment to environmental sustainability. We strive to ensure the company’s environmental impact is minimised throughout all our operations.”
