John Hughes photo

John Hughes
Chairman

Mr Hughes has more than 30 years’ experience leading complex, high technology businesses operating at a global level, including senior executive positions at Thales Group (where he was latterly executive vice president and chief operating officer, responsible for a 25,000+ people organisation), Lucent Technologies (where his responsibilities included being president of its worldwide GSM and UMTS businesses) and Hewlett-Packard.

Mr Hughes has significant experience of managing growth companies, especially those supplying complex solutions and services to business customers, mergers and acquisitions, international/channel expansion and development of leadership teams. Mr Hughes has lived and worked in the USA and mainland Europe as well as the UK. Mr Hughes is Non-Executive Chairman of Intec Telecom Systems plc, Executive Deputy Chairman of Parity Group plc and a member of the boards of Nice Systems Ltd (a NASDAQ-listed company), Barco nv (a Brussels exchange-listed company) and of Spectris plc. He holds a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Michael Tobin photo

Michael Tobin
Chief Executive Officer

Mr Tobin is the Chief Executive Officer of TelecityGroup. Mr Tobin joined Redbus Interhouse in 2002 as Sales and Marketing Director and became Chief Executive Officer in 2003.  He lead the company through its integration with TeleCity, the subsequent acquisition of Globix in 2006 and the creation of TelecityGroup which he floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2007. Mr Tobin has more than 25 years’ experience in the telecommunications and technology sector. Prior to TelecityGroup, Mr Tobin headed-up Fujitsu’s e-Commerce operations in Germany and before that ran ICL’s Danish outsourcing subsidiary out of Copenhagen. Mr Tobin has also enjoyed senior positions based in Paris for over 11 years including International Computer Group and Tricord Systems Europe, and was Managing Director of Goupil UK.

Group Finance Director 

Mr McArthur Muscroft is Group Finance Director at TelecityGroup and is responsible for financial strategy, policies, reporting, planning and control for the Group. Mr McArthur Muscroft has over twenty years’ experience as a financial and strategic executive, with the last twelve of these specialising in the telecommunications and technology markets. Prior to joining the Group, Mr McArthur Muscroft was Group Finance Director of Viatel, a pan-European communications business, Eckoh Technologies plc, a UK-listed telecommunications and technology group, and Cable and Wireless HKT Multimedia. Mr McArthur Muscroft was also Director of Risk Management for Cable and Wireless Asia. Mr McArthur Muscroft qualified as a Chartered Accountant (FCA) with PricewaterhouseCoopers in London, specialising in business restructuring and turnaround assignments, and holds a law degree

Mr Batey has 20 years’ experience in a number of senior finance roles in industry. From 1987 to 2000, he worked for AMEC plc, initially as Deputy Group Finance Director and then, from 1992, as Group Finance Director. Between 2000 and 2006, Mr Batey was Group Finance Director of United Utilities plc and, from 2006 until August 2007, he was Chief Financial Officer of Thames Water Utilities Limited. Mr Batey has been a Non-Executive Director of Arriva plc since October 2003 and has also served as a Non-Executive Director of THUS Group plc. Mr Batey has an MA in Geography from Oxford University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant, having spent the first 12 years of his career at Armitage and Norton (now part of KPMG).

Robert Morse

Mr Morse is a Partner of Oak Hill Capital Management and has been with the firm since 2001. Mr Morse is responsible for originating, structuring and managing investments in the firm’s technology group. Prior to joining Oak Hill, Mr Morse worked at GCC Investments, a growth private equity firm, Loudcloud, Inc., an internet infrastructure provider, and Morgan Stanley Capital Partners. Mr Morse earned a BSE degree, summa cum laude, from Princeton University and a MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where Mr Morse was an Arjay Miller Scholar.

Ian Nolan
Non-Independent Non-Executive Director  

Mr Nolan is a Partner in 3i’s European Buyouts business, and is responsible for its UK team. Mr Nolan began his 3i career in 1987 in Manchester moving to London in 1995 as a director. In 1998, Mr Nolan returned to Manchester as managing director of 3i’s business in the North West of England, subsequently assuming responsibility for the whole of the North, and then also for Scotland. In 2004, Mr. Nolan moved back to London to take on a European-wide role within the buyout business, involved in transactions both within the UK and in Continental Europe. At the start of 2006, Mr. Nolan took on responsibility for the UK part of the European buyout team. Mr Nolan has an MA in Economics from Cambridge University, and prior to joining 3i he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

Mr O’Reilly is Managing Director of Remote Betting and Gaming at Ladbrokes. Mr O’Reilly joined the Board of Ladbrokes following the completion of the sale of the Hilton International hotels division in February 2006. Mr O’Reilly has led the Ladbrokes eGaming Division since its establishment in 2000. Mr O’Reilly has responsibility for Vernons in addition to Ladbrokes.com and Ladbrokes Telephone Betting operations. Since joining Ladbrokes, Mr O’Reilly has held senior responsibility within the company for marketing, public relations, public affairs, property, business development and the Telephone Betting business. Mr O’Reilly is a director of The Remote Gambling Association. Mr O’Reilly holds a First Class honours degree in Business.

Sergei Riabtsov
Non-Independent Non-Executive Director

Mr Riabtsov joined the Sputnik Group at its founding in 1998 and is now Managing Director. Mr Riabtsov has been a hands-on manager of investment activities for the last ten years and has served on the board of a number of the Group’s investments, including Redbus. Prior to joining the Sputnik Group, Mr Riabtsov was an investment banker at Credit Suisse First Boston in London and Moscow and at Renaissance Capital in Moscow. Mr Riabtsov holds a degree in Economics and Finance from the State Finance Academy in Moscow.
